What
Can Green Roofs Do For You?
June
20th and 21st 2006 - A two day
conference, with an extra day of site visits. Hosted
by University of Sheffield and Livingroofs.org
An internationally recognised group of speakers, focused discussions, and
inspiring events to showcase the real and practical
benefits of roof greening in Britain.
This is a conference that won’t revolve around general statements about
how wonderful green roofs are. Instead it will focus
on hard information, and translate proven green roof
benefits into language we can all understand – how can
investment in green roof infrastructure give us pay-back,
whether this be in financial terms, fitting legal and
policy requirements, or simply meeting essential social,
aesthetic and environmental needs in different settings.
The conference features:
·
Inspiring international case studies showing how
green roof development is actively supported and encouraged
in North American and European cities.
·
Authoritative discussion by world experts on the
key drivers for green roof infrastructure development:
energy conservation and the urban heat island; urban
stormwater management; and biodiversity and nature conservation.
·
Focus on economics and cost-beneift of green roof
infrastructure at different scales.
·
Highlighting current and future policy and legal
frameworks and incentives for green roof implementation
in the UK.
·
Themed, in-depth sessions focusing on specific
areas, such as planning and policy; domestic and garden;
schools and education; commercial development; housing
and residential; biodiversity.
·
Trade show and Exhibition of green roof products,
services, resources and research.
·
Site visits to real green roofs in different settings.
·
Associated events as part of Green Roof Week.
